Patios & Hardscaping in Cape Cod, Massachusetts

A patio is the part of a property people use most, and it is also the surface that shows every shortcut taken underneath it. AR Mansory builds paver and natural stone patios, walkways, steps and outdoor living areas across Cape Cod.

The work starts with excavation, a compacted base and pitch that moves water away from the house. Only then does material selection — pavers, bluestone, cut stone or a combination — decide how the finished surface looks.

Paver patios

Concrete pavers give a consistent surface, a wide range of formats and colours, and individual units that can be lifted and reset later if something below needs access. Borders, soldier courses and banding are used to define the shape and edge the field.

Stone patios

Natural stone — bluestone and cut stone in particular — reads differently: fewer, larger units, more variation and a look that suits older Cape Cod houses. It can be set on a compacted base or on a mortar bed over a slab, depending on the situation.

Outdoor living areas

A patio is usually one element of a larger space. Seat walls, steps, fire areas, grill surrounds, pergola footings and lighting sleeves are built into the layout while the base is still open, rather than added afterwards.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do patios sink or become uneven?
Almost always because of the base rather than the surface: not enough excavation, base material that was never properly compacted, or water sitting under the surface with nowhere to drain. Rebuilding the base is the fix; re-levelling the top is temporary.
Can a new patio be built over an old concrete slab?
Sometimes, if the slab is sound, correctly pitched and drains. If it is cracked, heaved or holding water, the better result comes from removing it, which we can also handle as part of the same project.
