Site preparation for reconstruction
Once the old surface is out, the area is excavated to the depth the new construction needs, the subgrade is checked, and grade and drainage are set before base material goes in. Buried lines are located and worked around.

- Can part of an existing patio be removed and the rest kept?
- Often, yes. The surface is cut to a clean edge and the retained section is protected. Whether it is worth keeping depends on the condition of the base underneath, not just the surface.
- What happens to the material that comes out?
- Removed concrete, stone, pavers and lumber are hauled off the property. In some cases existing stone can be salvaged and reused in the new work, which is decided on site.
